A DESPERATE mum has set up a fundraiser after suffering from two brain aneurysms leaving her out of work to support her children.

Fatima Martins, 50, from High Wycombe, felt a "strong sharp pain" in her head causing her to feel nauseous and dizzy.

She phoned for an ambulance on Tuesday, March 7, and was immediately taken to Wexham Park hospital in Slough.

A CT scan showed two aneurysms. On the right side of her brain was bleeding and the one on the left wasn't.

Fatima said: "Nobody knows why aneurysms happen. There are several reasons. In my case, they just don't know.

"I was transferred to John Radcliffe the same day for emergency surgery as soon as the bleeding was detected. The surgery was over three hours."

After having the emergency surgery Fatima now has to stay off work for a long period of time until she can have more surgery to treat the second aneurysm.

The single mum is also a carer for her 23-year-old son Flavio who is autistic and her 14-year-old daughter Amy.

"I'm self-employed, have an ironing business also do translation work and teach English lessons to the Brazilian community in the area.

"I'll have to stay off work for a long time as a second aneurysm will need treatment as soon as I recover from this surgery.

"This is all very scary and distressing for me and my children as we don't have any family or friends near us.

"The children's Dad lives in Brazil with his new family. It's just me and my babies here."

Fatima is now desperate to raise money to support herself and her two children whilst she is out of work to recover from surgery.

So far, she has raised £1,171 out of her £3,000 goal through go fund me donations.

She wrote on her fundraising page: "I'm making this fundraising page to try and survive and feed my two children. My kids are my world. As a single mum, I was working five jobs to put food on the table and keep up with my bills.

"Now I need to be off work for a long time and really need people's kindness to have enough money to survive. I want to thank you all and ask with all my heart please donate, every little helps."
