A busy A-road was once again the setting for horse and trap racing today, an issue that has long angered locals.

The A413 around Gerrards Cross and Chalfont St Peter has long been used by pony and cart racers at the weekends, regularly causing traffic chaos as drivers try to get around them safely.

A video previously shared with the Bucks Free Press showed the event in June last year, showed several vehicles involved including a trailer filled with at least 16 people, and the pony and trap using the busy road near Gerrards Cross Golf Club.

Previously, Thames Valley Police has said “an escalation in the events” in the area could be caused by the enforcement response to horse and cart racing by police in Hampshire.

The racing has returned today (March 4) as police reportedly swooped to thwart proceedings.

Thames Valley Police in Sough Buckinghamshire said officers disrupted the pony and trap racing on the A413 in the morning. It said five vehicles and drivers were reported and a dispersal order is in place.

Bucks Free Press:

The police dispersal order bans individuals from returning to a specific area for a certain amount of time, and officers confirmed this order is in place until 9pm on March 5.

Anyone who fails to comply with the order risks being arrested.

The events have angered locals over several years due to reported traffic chaos created as a result.

One person, who lives in Denham,  previously wrote on social media site Next door said: "

One person, who lives in Denham, wrote: "We have suffered with this issue for years now. We live on Red Hill in Denham, they block our drive every weekend and the slip road off the A413.

"Large groups of men and kids gathering blocking the road and littering. They drive off out the wrong way on the 'no entry' towards A413."

A Chalfont St Peter resident added: "We live parallel to the A413 and could hear the car horns and yelling on Saturday and Sunday mornings from our house. This has been going on for years but has escalated."

Speaking in October,

On October 21, Amersham area Police Sergeant Darren Walsh said: “The issue of pony and trap racing on the A413 in Chalfont St Peter and Denham has long been a community concern.

“With limited resources, we have expedited our response to reports of this nature, and have dealt with traffic offences to deter the behaviour, through prosecution."
