A HIGH Wycombe boozer formerly owned by Steven Smith is set to reopen after being bought by a new landlord.

The Crown Radnage in City Road, High Wycombe, will be given a new lease of life as it has been sold following a recent sale completion by Fleurets.

The freehold of the public house was on the market with Fleurets for just two months before going under offer.

The Crown closed its doors on January 2 after the owners "battled through Covid" and the cost of living crisis struggling to make the business work.

A post on Facebook said at the time: "John and I battled through Covid, re-invented ourselves multiple times but the world and peoples habits have changed, and now coupled with a cost of living crisis, it was time to hand over the reins to someone else for a new look and energy.

"We’d like to thank all our brilliant staff both past and present, you are all fantastic and have helped us create some amazing memories."

The village pub saw extremely high levels of interest during its short time on the market with 17 viewings on the opening date alone.

Senior Associate at Fleurets London commented Elysia Wilson-Gunns said: “When we brought the Crown to market we expected there to be a fair level of interest given the type of property it is.

"However, we had a huge number of calls resulting in a busy open viewing session and 14 funded offers received at our best bids deadline with the majority being over asking price.

"We were thrilled to have sold this asset in such a swift timescale and The Crown will continue its life as a pub.

"This highlights in this difficult market there are still active funded buyers looking to transact in short timescales.

Former landlord Steven Smith said: “I appointed Fleurets to sell the pub, as I wanted an achievable price and didn’t want to be caught in a promise of unrealistic prices and no sale, just because that’s what an agent wants you to hear.

"Fleurets are very well respected in the hospitality sector, and are well suited to selling a small rural pub. The process throughout was very thorough with the team at Fleurets managing the process from end to end. I was kept informed at all times during the bidding process and was very impressed with the open day that was organised and the quality of potential buyers. I would recommend Fleurets to anyone selling a pub .”
