A MAN has been sentenced to a community order after beating up three Wetherspoons staff members at the Hope and Champion pub in Beaconsfield.
Police were called to the pub at Beaconsfield Service Station at around 10.30pm on August 20 last year.
Cameron Britnell of Oakwood, Flackwell Heath was in an argument with two members of the public. Staff asked him to leave the pub due to his aggressive behaviour.
After repeated requests for him to leave, Britnell ignored them and attacked three different members of staff.
The victims did not suffer any injuries.
Police described Britnell's behaviour as uncompliant and violent when officers tried to arrest him.
He even kicked a police officer in the head.
PC Michael Mayer-Smith suffered a minor injury but did not require hospital treatment.
He was sentenced to 135 hours of unpaid work in a hearing at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on January 6, 2023 for this offence.
Investigating officer PC George Ward from the Incident & Crime Response Team, based at Amersham police station, said: “I am satisfied that this case has now concluded and the court has passed sentence.
“This was a wholly unnecessary incident involving a series of assaults at a licenced premises against members of staff.
“During the initial investigation, Britnell was also given numerous opportunities to assist in providing details of the two individuals he had previously been seen arguing with, but refused to co-operate and provide any information.
“Thames Valley Police takes all assaults seriously and where the evidence is available, we will always seek to bring offenders before the courts.
“Britnell now has a criminal record for a set of circumstances which were of his own making.
“I hope that he reflects on his behaviour and there is no further repeat of such offending in the future.”
The 20-year-old pleaded guilty to three counts of assault by beating in a hearing at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Friday, February 17.
