A luxury Georgian country house has been named the best venue in Buckinghamshire.
Hedsor House, on the border between Buckinghamshire and Berkshire, is an 800-year-old Grade II listed building that doubles as a wedding venue and filming location.
The house, which has 100 acres of parkland, has recently expanded to include a luxury cottage in the grounds for the pre-wedding night.
It has also introduced ‘The Alexander’ wedding package, a carbon neutral option that recently won a ‘Best Sustainability Swap’ award.
Owned by the Shephard family, the estate has also won a Gold Award for ‘Best of Bridebook 2023’ and was named ‘Best Venue in Buckinghamshire’ by Hitched.
Hedsor has previously been selected as a top wedding spot by Vogue, Marie Claire, Tatler and The Times.
The house’s large estate includes a medieval church, a sunken garden and a chandeliered ballroom that boasts a 150-guest capacity.
It has hosted the likes of stars Tom Hardy, Dustin Hoffman and Johnny Depp and has been featured as a filming location in productions including Downton Abbey.
The Shepherd brothers, who run the estate, were particularly proud of Hedsor House’s award for sustainability.
Managing director Mark Shephard said: “We’re thrilled by this recognition. As brides and grooms-to-be become increasingly concerned by how their decisions influence others, we have sought to boldly demonstrate how showstopping nuptials can also be sustainable.”
The venue has attracted newlyweds-to-be from around the UK as well as from Asia and the United States, with a special focus on Asian and Jewish nuptials.

Hedsor’s events team also hosted a free wedding for two Ukrainians who were unable to get married in their homeland in November last year.
