A HARSH poll has named High Wycombe as one of the worst places to live in England.

The satirical website ILiveHere revealed a list of the top 50 worst-rated towns and cities in the UK, featuring High Wycombe as among the worst taking 11th place.

We don't think High Wycombe should even feature on the list - and it looks like our readers agree with us too.

Bucks Council responds to High Wycombe being named among worst places to live in England

We asked our readers what they thought about the town - is it really as bad as its critics say?

A poll we launched on Friday, February 10, has seen 509 votes cast with 44 per cent of people saying they think High Wycombe isn't one of the worst places to live.

Meanwhile, 50 per cent of readers agree with the satirical website and think the town is one of the worst places to live. 6 per cent of readers answered 'not sure' to our poll.

But in the Facebook comments, BFP readers disagreed with Wycombe's harsh ranking.

Allah Ditta Yaqub said: "That's a bit harsh. Town centre maybe not whole of High Wycombe."

David Hall said: "Obviously they never have been to Slough."

One commenter on the story said: "When I visited Marlow I noticed they have teams of voluntary litter pickers tidying the streets and there is always voluntary people doing small projects in the parks etc.

"Maybe all High Wycombe needs is people to take more pride in where they live. I don't think Wycombe is a bad place. It's got a great shopping centre, cinema, bowling, good restaurants a nice church in the town centre, the river, and Hughenden park. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Start being positive about Wycombe and it will work wonders."

Another person said: "I live in Marlow but went to RGS and it's lovely! Would be good if we could wall off Handy Cross it's bringing our town down!"

Stephen Brookes said: "This list appears to be what you might get if you give a bag of doughnuts and some coffee, as an advanced reward, to two kids on work experiences for compiling the list.

"High Wycombe is a lovely town and so is Reading. Whilst neither would be considered idyllic. They are most definitely not unpleasant."

Another resident said: "I've lived here 43 years and it has gone way downhill in many respects in my opinion. Its only saving grace is the rye and surrounding woods and countryside. Could not believe it got its own monopoly game.

"I disagree about Downley though. It's ok and literally borders the woods with footpaths going for miles in all directions. When I lived up there you could almost forget the town centre existed."
