Buckinghamshire Council has branded a survey ranking High Wycombe among the worst places to live as "disheartening and unscientific".
Each year, the satirical website iLiveHere asks the public to vote on towns and cities they think should rank as the worst in England.
After 105,598 people responded the website named High Wycombe as one of the worst places to live in England. High Wycombe ranks as number 11.
The council confirmed they are aware of the "unscientific" online poll.

Peter Strachan, Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Planning and Regeneration, said: “We are aware of this unscientific poll which contains some rather unpleasant and offensive content about many places in England.
“It’s disheartening to see negative comments about High Wycombe included, but we appreciate people are entitled to their opinion and to share it – although we strongly disagree with some of these opinions."
The council argued how High Wycombe is a great place to live for residents and people to visit.
“We think High Wycombe is a fantastic destination for residents and visitors alike," Peter added.
"It’s a thriving market town surrounded by beautiful landscapes. Its rich history can be seen at the heart of the preserved Medieval High Street, which has held a street market since at least the Middle Ages. High Wycombe also boasts a creative cultural offer with the famous Swan Theatre and lots of events – including the annual Wycombe Arts Festival."
The council dispelled myths from the poll which talks about 'gangs hanging around the street corners', and drug crime."
According to the council, High Wycombe ranks among the safest large towns in England too.
He added: “High Wycombe also ranks among the safest large towns in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and offers residents and visitors a bustling atmosphere with a great selection of shops and a lively nightlife. It’s also just a short walk to the magnificent Wycombe Rye, a picturesque green open space with play areas and a boating lake.
“We recently agreed the High Wycombe masterplan, which sets out a plan to transform the town’s public spaces, strengthen the economy and bring the town together. These changes introduce long-term strategies, such as making the town more pedestrian-friendly and creating new opportunities for businesses.
“In summary, we believe High Wycombe is a great place with an exciting future!"
