Police have named a four-year-old girl who died in a horrific dog attack in Milton Keynes.

The young girl, from Broadlands, Netherfield, died on Tuesday, January 31 just after 5pm.

The youngster, named in reports as Alice Stones, died at the scene and the dog was destroyed.

Police have confirmd that formal identification has taken place.

They have also confirmed that the dog is not a banned breed but have not confirmed the exact breed of dog.

Adding: "There has also been a large amount of speculation around the breed of the dog. Although we are not in a position to confirm the exact breed of the dog due to the requirement for further testing, we are able to confirm that the dog is not a banned breed."

Nobody else was hurt in the attack and the child’s family is being supported by specially trained officers, police said.

No arrests have been made, the force added.
