Families can help local nature this half term as part of NHS hospital's garden revival.
The Amersham Hospital gardens are undergoing major works to turn them into an oasis for staff, visitors and wildlife.
Now families can create bird boxes and bug hotel during the half term break.
One of the regular volunteers with the Amersham Hospital Gardens Project Hugh Chamberlain said: "Last year we put up two bird boxes and we had a family of blue tits fledge from one of the boxes, so this year we want to install even more.
“We have a lovely wall space in one of the courtyards that will be just perfect for a variety of birds - Tits, Blackbirds and Robins. It’s going to be wonderful as the bird boxes bring so much joy to the staff and patients who like to see the wildlife increasing at the Hospital.”
Last year, three garden designers revamped different areas within the hospital into an oasis as a way to give back to the NHS and the hospital, where their own family had been supported.
The boxes and hotels will go in the large Dermatology garden - a lush courtyard garden created by designer Sam Proctor with seating for staff and visitors, and habitat for birds and insects.
