A 20-year-old man has been sentenced after kicking a police officer in the head outside a Beaconsfield pub.
Cameron Britnell, of Oakwood, Flackwell Heath was found hiding in a bush by officers who were called to The Hope & Champion pub at Beaconsfield Service Station following reports of assaults taking place on August 20 at around 10.30pm.
Thames Valley Police say he was "uncompliant" and "violent" before being arrested for kicking one officer to the head.
PC Michael Mayer-Smith suffered a minor injury but did not require hospital treatment.
He was charged the following day and since has pleaded guilty to one count of assault by beating of an emergency worker in a hearing at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Friday (January 6).
He was made subject to a community order and must complete 135 hour of unpaid work as well as being ordered to pay compensation to the police officer.
Investigating officer PC George Ward, based at Amersham police station, said: “I am pleased that Britnell has been brought before the courts and sentenced for this offence.
“He can count himself fortunate not to have received a more significant sentence, or even a custodial sentence, and I hope that Britnell will learn from his actions and the resulting criminal record.
“Members of the public called police for help and during attendance, an officer was subsequently assaulted.
“This is wholly unacceptable behaviour. Our officers work tirelessly for the public and we will never tolerate any form of assault on emergency workers, whose job it is to protect the public.”
