Works to make cycling and walking easier started in Aylesbury this week.

The construction of three new cycle and pedestrian crossings kicked off on Rabans Lane, Fowler Road, and Fowler Road near Bracken Way on January 4.

The works are part of Buckinghamshire Council’s £1.4 million Platinum Way scheme, which is designed to improve pedestrian and cycling connections from the Waddesdon Greenway and Haydon Hill link to Aylesbury town centre.

The newest Phase 2 of works is set to take 11 weeks to complete by the end of March 2023.

Phase 1 traffic free path from Berryfields to Buckingham Park, the Aylesbury Greenway, opened to the public on May 30 2022 in time for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, which gave the project its name.

With funding from the Department for Transport’s Active Travel Fund, the scheme aims to encourage travel by foot, bike and other non-car modes of transport.
