An Amersham teenager who is regarded as one of the UK’s best young water skiers, will be one six participants to represent the country at the IWWF World Under 17 Waterski Championships.
Lilli Deste, 17, who is a student at the Dr Challoner’s Grammar School in Little Chalfont, will fly out to Chile later this week to take part in the competition.

The Championships will see medals awarded in the three separate events of slalom, tricks and jump.
Joining Lilli in South America will be the following:
- Dani Halford, 16, from Bromsgrove, Worcestershire (slalom, tricks, jump).
- Harrison Crossland, 15, (but turns 15 on January 3), from Cirencester, Gloucestershire (slalom, tricks)
- Tom Parkin, 17, from Scarborough, North Yorkshire (slalom, tricks, jump)
- Stella Gamski, 16, from Oxshott, Surrey (slalom, tricks) and
- Noah Pollard, 17 from Kings Lynn, Norfolk (slalom, tricks, jump)

The whole GB Team have been together in Florida ahead of the competition.
They have been accompanied by GB Youth Coach, Charlotte Wharton, who has also travelled with them to Chile.
She said: “For some of these skiers, it is their first World Championships and, despite the nerves, I know they are excited.

“I have seen how hard they have been training and we are all excited to watch them compete this week.
“We have a few days practice before the event begins on January 5th and Team GB are ready.“
The championships take place between January 5 and January 8.
