High Wycombe's very own 'Tuneless Choir' is inviting people to make it their New Year’s resolution to sing, whatever their ability.
The Tuneless Choir describes itself as a choir for the “less vocally confident” and is one of many Tuneless Choirs across the country which formed to promote singing for fun and wellbeing.
Singing in a choir has been shown to have a positive effect on people’s mental health and wellbeing, it can reduce anxiety and increase life satisfaction.
Choir leader and manager Rebecca Cobb said: “Choir members tell me singing as part of the choir takes their minds off the day’s troubles and boosts their mood, but mostly that they do it simply because it’s social and fun.
"We provide a friendly and relaxed environment to allow people to ‘sing like no one is listening’, which is the Tuneless motto.
"It has been lovely to see everyone grow in confidence”.
The group is offering a free trial to newcomers as the Wycombe choir celebrates its first year anniversary on January 3.
Rebecca added: "We will be having coffee and cake to celebrate.”
The session on January 3 will be a “Back to School” theme and include songs such as ABC by the Jackson 5 and Baggy Trousers by Madness.
The choir meets at St James’ Church Hall, Downley, High Wycombe, on the first and third Tuesday of each month and is £10 to join as a member, and £8 'pay as you go' after the registration fee - offers available.
Doors open at 7:30pm for registration and singing is from 7.45pm to 9.00pm.
The free trial is available on either session in January (January 3 or 17). For more information, please contact Rebecca on 07527 616857 or at highwycombe@tunelesschoir.com
