A BUSINESS which teaches children to code is celebrating a 'remarkable year' since opening in High Wycombe.

Code Ninjas in Queen Alexandra Road, hosted a Christmas party to celebrate the achievements of its 'ninjas' the name given to its coding students.

The Mayor High Wycombe, Cllr Arif Hussain, joined in the celebrations on Thursday, December 22, to find out how the business has performed over the year.

Local studio owners and best friends Robin Theakston and Charlie Gunn opened the business earlier this year and felt keen to celebrate what has proven to be a "remarkable year for kids coding in the area".

“I’m thrilled that we could end what has proven to be a fantastic year for Code Ninjas High Wycombe on a festive-themed high,” said Robin.

“Christmas is a great time to reflect on what the dojo and our ninjas have achieved since enrolling with us, and it was great to be able to host a celebration where students and parents could join us in toasting to a fantastic year whilst taking part in fun, holiday-themed STEM activities.”

The Mayor oversaw proceedings as the ninjas took part in yuletide-themed coding activities.

Cllr Arif said: “It has been a pleasure to celebrate the success of such an important business that provides a fun, safe and inclusive learning environment for the kids of High Wycombe.

“Robin and Charlie’s mission to spark curiosity in coding and technology that will build the vital foundations for the future success of local children is inspiring.”

At Code Ninjas, kids get immediate help and encouragement from a Code Sensei and fellow ninjas on the nine-belt programme as they advance from white to black belt.

Younger kids can take part in Code Ninjas JR, so kids aged five to 14 can access the problem-solving and critical thinking skills they will need to be the leaders of the future.

Since opening its doors in February, Robin and Charlie have been committed to delivering a quality and engaging curriculum to children across the county, and the ninjas and their parents could not be happier.

One parent who has seen the results first-hand with her little ninja said: “Code Ninjas has been fantastic for developing confidence and technological skills for my daughter, and she absolutely loves it. She has been able to learn about robotics and electronics in the sessions, things that aren’t necessarily taught enough in schools.

"I'm over the moon that High Wycombe has a place for her to have the chance to learn these skills of the future.”

And one ninja told Robin and Charlie that the Christmas session was “the best party ever!” on his way out of the door.

Robin and Charlie are now looking forward to continuing these results in 2023.

Charlie said: “We’ve had a brilliant year at Code Ninjas High Wycombe and at our second location in Aylesbury. We can’t wait to carry on encouraging boys and girls to learn the technological skills they will need for the future into the new year."
