The White Eagle Club's charity body, the Amersham Polish Foundation, has donated £1,000 to the Chiltern Foodbank.

The cause supplies emergency food parcels to people in need in the Chiltern District and Wendover area.

The Amersham Polish Foundation operates as a charity in England, Wales, and Poland, where it promotes Polish culture, tradition, and heritage.

Polish Foundation spokesman, Stan Samek, said: "This is the third £1,000 donation made by the Foundation as part of its support for the local community at a time when many families are finding the cost of living a major problem.

Chiltern Foodbank Coordinator, Diane Rutter, added: "Last year, we provided over 46,800 meals to local people in need, 37.3 per cent of whom were children.

"Apart from myself as the part-time paid coordinator, everyone else at the Foodbank are unpaid volunteers, so we keep our costs down as low as possible.

"However, there are always some overheads and development costs associated with running a charity.

"Much of our food is donated by people within our local communities, but occasionally we need to purchase top-up stocks of food and financial donations received to enable us to do this.

"Your donation helps us to cover our costs and to support initiatives that help our clients."
