A care home leader from Chalfont St Peter won a prestigious award at this year’s British Care Awards.
Niki Woods, the head of memory lane unit at Chalfont Lodge looking after 106 residents took home the regional award for the best Frontline Leader at a gala ceremony on November 19.
Being the best in her category regionally means Niki is now shortlisted for a chance to win the national award, which is announced later.
Niki said: “I wasn’t expecting to win this award but I am so pleased, and proud. We don’t work in care for the accolades but it’s wonderful to be recognised by my team and peers, it is nothing short of an honour.”
The care home described Niki a “devoted staff member”, who keeps the staff morale high even on challenging days.
General Manager Raj Boodhoo commented: “This is an amazing achievement, and the staff, residents and local community are supporting Niki wholeheartedly.
“It’s more important than ever to recognise everyone that has worked so hard. It is lovely to recognise these individuals.
“There isn’t a more worthy winner, and we’re really excited for the Great British Care Awards ceremony next year where Niki will hopefully take home the crown.”
