As we get closer to Christmas (it’s now less than a month away!), here are eight photos from people celebrating the festive season in High Wycombe and beyond.
The images date back to the mid-20th century and you may or may not recognise some people you might know.
So, what is going on in all eight pics?
Image One: Fourteen children and three women, many wearing paper hats, are spotted enjoying a Christmas party at Wycombe Marsh in 1954.
Image Two: Taken in December 1922, the shop of J. Aldridge and Sons is pictured decorated with game, poultry, and vegetables for Christmas.
The establishment was on White Hart Street in High Wycombe.
Image Three: A line of 11 nurses, plus a matron holding a lantern, sing carols at Wycombe Hospital during the 1960s. The exact year is not known.
Image Four: In December 1953, 20 teenagers posed for a photo at the Beaconsfield Youth Club at their Christmas party.
The snap was shot in 1953 and as you can see, many of those in attendance were enjoying the festivities.
Image Five: Another pic of J. Aldridge and Sons donning their building with game in the run-up to the festive day on December 25. This was taken in 1938, 10 months before the start of World War II.
Image Six: An illuminated Christmas tree stands alone on Market Place, Princes Risborough in December 1966.
Image Seven: Taken during the festive season of the 1950s, a lit-up Christmas tree stands in the middle of Frogmoor in High Wycombe.
The known date for pic being snapped is not known.
Image Eight: Pictured during the Christmas season of 1951, a festive gathering at Wooburn’s Congregational Church Hall saw many people in attendance.
