A MAN has been taken to hospital after reportedly 'suffering from a heart attack' near Superdrug earlier this afternoon, an eyewitness said.

Police officers were spotted in The Eden Shopping Centre dealing with an incident involving a man, reportedly in his 60s.

Eyewitness Steve told the Free Press he saw a man collapse onto the floor.

Police cordoned off a section of the shopping centre near Krispy Kreme and Superdrug.

He said: "Basically, a guy had a heart attack and collapsed on the floor. They managed to get him up and put him on the bench. He collapsed again.

"He's 67, same age as my mum. He was just a customer in the shopping centre. My friend works at Krispy Kreme and called the ambulance.

"There was quite a lot of police, I wasn't scared I was just worried for the guy and hope he's okay." 

Another eyewitness who works in Superdrug said: "The incident happened at 3.23pm behind the Krispy Kreme stand outside Superdrug. A patient was on the floor and was seen to by paramedics who appeared to be doing CPR.

"Superdrug was forced to close while the incident was occurring and have been told not to give further information."

Thames Valley Police confirmed they attended the incident.

A spokesman said: "We attended an incident at Eden Shopping Centre following a call from South Central Ambulance Service at around 3.08pm today (15/11).

"Officers assisted on scene, but no crime was committed. For any further information please contact South Central Ambulance Service."
