A fast-flowing water leak was reported this morning in Chesham town centre.
Water was seen gushing out of a manhole on Berkhampstead Road A416 between number 326 and Newtown Baptist Church.
An eyewitness said they noticed the leak at 10am today.
In a video posted by a resident on OurChesham Facebook group, water is seen bubbling out of a drain near the pavement and flowing from a manhole while its cover appears to be dislocated.
At 11am water appeared to have engulfed part of the pavement and it was reaching the nearest northbound lane.
While the cause of the leak was still unknown, a resident commented: “The River Chess starts down the Vale could be something to do with that. There might be a high water table.”
The leak came after heavy rain in South East, including Buckinghamshire, on Tuesday morning, leading to a flood warning being issued in parts of England by the Environment Agency.
