Police officers were alerted to a scene of a car crash in Buckinghamshire after a suspected drink driver caused damage yesterday.
The driver of a red SUV crashed into a bollard and a road sign outside Tesco Superstore in Amersham on Sunday November 13, impact of which caused the driver’s airbag to inflate and left the car with a huge dent.
After smashing into the traffic island on London Road West and destroying the road sign, the female driver then tried to leave Amersham, Thames Valley Police said.

The force said: “The driver decided it was worth the risk and had been drinking so she decided that she wouldn’t wait around and tried to leave #amersham before we arrived!”
However, she was “quickly located” thanks to the help of an off-duty Police Community Support Officer (PCSO).
The driver was taken to hospital as a precaution, where she was required to do a blood test, which “she failed to provide,” the force said.
“The driver now faces a court date for failing to provide and will be banned from driving,” Thames Valley Police said on social media.
