A ROMANTIC and cosy restaurant in the heart of Marlow is serving up delicious roast dinners, and we were lucky enough to be invited along to try them.
The Oarsman in Marlow, Spittal Street, launched its Special Sunday Roast menu earlier this month, offering a different meat each week.
The popular Marlow restaurant offers a variety of delicious main courses throughout the week, including Salmon and Mussels, Pheasant Breast to vegetarian dishes including BBQ Cauliflower or Potato Rosti.

We were recommended to try their Sunday roast, with myself opting for the Entrecot (roast beef) 32 day aged with spiced carrot puree, roast potato and a Yorkshire pudding (£24.95).
My guest ordered the Porchetta (roast pork), which was served with cabbage and a crisp potato (£21.50).
The dark restaurant lit up immediately by the lovely waitress who welcomed us in with a warm smile. She showed us to our table and recommended the red wine, called Saint-Joseph “Hedonism”wine from France, which was the perfect accompaniment with the beef main course.
We were then tempted into getting starters after being recommended to try the classic fish soup, and steak Tartare with smoked egg yolke.
I was blown away by the creamy fish soup, paired beautifully with a mustard tasting Rouille sauce and thin crispy pieces of crouton.
The flavour of the soup was rich with chopped pieces of spring onion adding crunch and freshness.

The soup is the ultimate comfort food with the grated Gruyère cheese melted on top. I just wish I could have it again.
Having been blown away by the starters, we were even more excited for our mains to arrive.
Picking up my knife, I started carving into the beef which was soft like butter.
It was flavoursome and the texture was smooth. The gravy paired well with the huge thick potato on the plate and crispy Yorkshier pud.
From my experience of Sunday Roasts at pubs and restaurants; there is never enough gravy.
Luckily, the waitress could already tell it was a question I was going to ask and popped to the kitchen to grab another jug.
Everything was delicious and very filling, although I think I’d prefer the potato to be served as smaller roasties rather than one big lump.
The pork my guest tucked into was juicy and the fat melted in the mouth. He really enjoyed his meal and praised how lovely the atmosphere was inside.
As for dessert. As much as we tried to pluck up the courage to try something sweet we were absolutely defeated.
We both struggled finishing our mains but it goes to show it is value for money.
Throughout this month, The Oarsman is offering a different game dish as part of their Sunday Roast Specials series.
The limited-edition menu on Sunday featured Pheasant breast on the menu, which I’m sure would have been equally delicious given how lovely our meals were.
I’ll definitely be going back soon to show my friends and family how good the food is.
