Roadworks are set to close a town centre road for more than three weeks.
Drainage improvement works are due to close Chesham’s Pednor Road from Church Street to Drydell Lane to replace a major pipe underneath the road.
The broken pipe is crucial for taking overflow water from The Bury Lake into River Chess.
From October 31 onwards, the roadworks will close Pednor Road to all traffic 24 hours a day, while a diversion route will be in place using Chartridge Lane and West Dean Lane as “unfortunately, there is no other suitable diversion route,” Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport Steven Broadbent said.

The works are expected to be completed by Friday November 25.
Mr Broadbent said: “Works of this nature are extremely weather dependant and therefore may be subject to disruption due to adverse weather.
“If the works are delayed, the advance information signs on site will be updated to reflect any changes and we may write to residents to provide an update depending on the length of the delay.
“We apologise in advance to residents for any inconvenience these essential works may cause but look forward to the benefit that the improved drainage system will provide.”
A resident claimed on social media they had not received advance notification of the works.
Buckinghamshire Council delivered letters to all residents in the vicinity, who are directly affected but “unfortunately cannot make direct contact with every residents who may be affected in this way,” Mr Broadbent said.
