Professional garden designers gave a makeover to a rundown hospital garden in Buckinghamshire.
Amersham Hospital gardens was revamped into an oasis by a Chiltern- based garden designed trio.
Each designer renovated a different area within the hospital as a way to give back to the NHS and the hospital, where their own family members have been supported.
Hospital staff commented the makeover: “It brings us happiness, we just open the door and look at the garden and we are so happy.”

Staff can now enjoy a lush courtyard at the Dermatology Ward, creating an immersive natural experience with large leaves mixed with pops of colour, including seating areas and habitat for birds and insects created by designer Sam Proctor.

Jen Donnelly’s creation at Chartridge Ward – planting with colour and texture and a fun game - can be used by both staff and patients, while Catherine Gibbon introduced a refreshed planting scheme to the Ophthalmology Secret Garden with focus on colour, resilience and evergreens for year-round structure.
