GNOMES will be taking over the town in aid of a very worth cause for local care home residents.

Staff at Swan House in Winslow, Buckinghamshire, have been busy preparing to turn the village into a spectacular gnome display.

Dubbed as Gnomevember, the aim is to raise funds for an interactive table to "enhance the lives of residents suffering from dementia" at the care home.

Swan House manager Mohammed Hussein said: “It’s been a difficult few years, so we wanted to do something that makes people smile and unite all ages for a great cause.

"Many of the people we care for at Swan House are living with Dementia and an interactive activity table will bring daily fun and laughter and enhance lives by igniting sensory skills through sound, sight and touch.”

The charity behind the fundraising campaign, Ambient, has provided Swan House hundreds of pint-sized paintable Gnomes which will be available for local neighbours to pick up and take part.

Local businesses, the fire station, pub and high street shops have already pledged their support by displaying their painted gnomes alongside posters promoting the campaign and the JustGiving page for donations.

Swan House residents will take part too, painting Gnomes to adorn Swan House and for family members and loved ones to enjoy at home.

Mohammed said: “The more people that get involved, the more smiles and funds we’ll raise. If you are a business or community group, please get in touch to reserve your gnomes and then Winslow…. get ready to Give a Gnome a Home and add colour to all our lives this Gnomevember!"

Davina Sellick, Director of Sales, Marketing & Communications, said: “The people we care for live happy and fulfilled lives at our care homes which are designed to be homely, warm and personalised.

"We continually strive to improve experiences for our residents and an interactive table will bring so much joy and well-being benefits for all at Swan House.”

Anyone can collect their free paintable Gnome from Swan House which comes with a Gnome Naming Certificate!

From the November 1, people are encouraged to share a picture of their painted Gnome on social media using the hashtag #Gnomevember and tagging @SwanHouseCareHome to spread joy and drive donations.
