A ROAD has been closed off by emergency services as a car burst into flames outside homes and businesses.
Firefighters were scrambled to Station Road, Loudwater, to tackle a fire that had ripped through a vehicle travelling from the junction with the A40.
Eyewitnesses reported the vehicle was stopped by a driver in front who had seen flames coming from beneath the car.
The incident happened shortly after 4pm when a number of loud bangs could be heard by staff inside the nearby buildings.
Nearby drivers at the time reported seeing the driver escaping the vehicle before the car was almost completely engulfed in flames. One driver also witnessed hearing a loud bang which was thought to have been a tyre exploding.
Within minutes, emergency services including Thames Valley Police and a crew from Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue were on the scene to hose down the flames.

A cloud of thick black smoke billowed into the sky as a cordon was put in place to keep other vehicles and any pedestrians away from the area as crews tackled the flames.
The road was blocked off for around 30 minutes while emergency services dealt with the incident.
It has since reopened to traffic moving around the burnt wreckage.
