A Tesla driver who was caught speeding at over 45mph in a 30mph zone has avoided a driving ban as it would "affect his appearances on TV."
Ronak Drone, aged 46, of Brayfield Lane in Chalfont St Giles, was found guilty of speeding at 46mph along Station Road in Amersham on December 31, 2021.
A repeat offender, the Tesla driver was due a driving ban after receiving five penalty points for the office - accumulating at least 12 points on his licence in the past three years.
However, at a hearing at Wycombe Magistrates' Court on September, 7, the court heard how Drone would not receive a driving ban due to "mitigating circumstances".
Among these circumstances was that "the defendant's appearances on TV would be affected."
The full list of mitigating circumstances were listed on the court register as: "Disqualification would affect defendant’s children’s school and their after-school activities and impact on the contact arrangement with children.
"It would affect defendant’s letting business and getting to and from different properties.
"Defendant's appearances on TV channel would be affected.
"The debt owed to sister by the business would be affected."
Stopping short of banning the driver, the justices fined Drone £512 and ordered him to pay £161 in costs.
