A Buckinghamshire walking festival is set to return next month with tens of autumnal walks through the countryside.
With more than 50 walks suitable for various experience and fitness levels, the Chilterns Walking Festival on October 15-30 is a great way to see golden beech trees and hedgerows bursting with seasonal colour.
Themed walks include a spooky Halloween walk along the River Thames with ghostly local tales at the Riverbank, a Walk on the Dark Side walk through Bones Woods and Crowsley Park offering a chance to tune into the sounds and sights of the night before a final stop at the pub for a hot chocolate.

Or how about a literary walk discovering George Orwell’s ‘golden country’ in south Oxfordshire and a visit to his former home?
The Foraging walk takes hikers underneath the majestic chestnut trees to learn about them and enjoy the fruits of the forest.
Chilterns are rich in ancient routes, and walkers have a chance to explore the Droves routes and the ‘Slow Ways’ historic routes.
Other tours and courses include map reading, pub walks, local produce tasting and historic garden tours.
