Road users are put at risk every time a drunk driver gets behind the wheel.
Drivers who are under the influence of alcohol pose a danger to themselves and everyone near them while they are behind the wheel.
The consequences of drink driving can be severe – and sometimes fatal – so it is no wonder that the punishment is harsh.
Those who get caught over the legal limit almost always receive a lengthy driving ban – and often get even stricter punishment.
