A MUSICIAN who lost everything in a ferocious flat fire is appealing for financial help to rebuild his life again.

Tico Prins received an alarming call from his letting agent whilst on a work trip that his flat was on fire flames engulfed the first floor flat in High Wycombe at around 10 am on August 6.

The house was gutted and all of Tico's possessions were destroyed including furniture/appliances and musical instruments.

"Had I been at home this would have probably been a different story for myself," asid Mr Prins, who was travelling abroad for several days when the fire ripped through his home.

"There was no known cause and luckily there were no casualties or injuries. Everyone had been able to make it out of the building safely. My letting agent told me that he was relieved to hear that I wasn't at home when this happened.

"The fire apparently originated from the balcony of the flat below mine and spread to my bathroom and bedroom first. The front door (and only entrance/exit) of my flat was directly next to the bathroom."

Initially, one fire engine and crew from High Wycombe, one from Beaconsfield, one from Maidenhead and two from Slough were called to the incident as well as an aerial appliance from Whitley Wood, and the Command Unit from Maidenhead attended, along with three officers.

Firefighters said: "Multiple calls were received by Thames Valley Fire Control to a fire involving a block of flats. The flat on the first floor was 10 per cent damaged by fire and 100 per cent damaged by water.

"A flat on the second floor was 80 per cent damaged by fire, and the roof was 60 per cent damaged by fire."

Tico's family urged him to launch a fundraising appeal to help him buy new furniture and clothes.

He said: "There is no telling when my insurance will pay out, and how much that is going to be. Friends and family have advised me to start a fundraiser through GoFundMe to gather some money to furnish the new property, buy new clothes etc.

"I set the target to £1,500, as I don't like asking for money, and expected to maybe raise a couple hundred. Much to my surprise, I am already close to my target within a week of starting the fundraiser.

"Friends, family, relatives, neighbours have all pitched in to help me get back on my feet.

"It's absolutely mind blowing how kind people are with their donations and messages of support. There's still a ways to go before I am emotionally and financially recovered from this situation, but my faith in the community, and in humanity overall, has completely been restored."

Tico has managed to secure himself a new home in Aylesbury and will be moving in on October 1.
