A public tribute to Queen Elizabeth II and the formal announcement of the King’s reign to the people of Buckinghamshire will take place in the town centre today (September 11).
The event, known as the Proclamation, will take place at 3.30pm from the Balcony of the High Wycombe Council Offices.
There is also a book of condolence available to sign at the Reception of the Council Offices and there will be a temporary memorial set up for members of the public to lay flowers.
Other towns are also holding their own Proclomation ceremonies which are open to the public.
Aylesbury
At 1pm on Sunday, September 11, on the steps of Exhibition Suite, Market Square will see the High Sheriff, Debbie Brock read the Proclamation of our new Sovereign, His Majesty, The King, Charles III.
The Lord Lieutenant, The Countess Howe will open the event and invite the High Sheriff to read the Proclamation accession speech. The High Sheriff will briefly give a speech before reading the Proclamation.
At the end of the Proclamation, the High Sheriff will call for three cheers for His Majesty the King.
Marlow
Town Mayor, Richard Scott, will be reading the Proclamation for Marlow at 3.30pm at the War Memorial on The Causeway.
A Book of Condolence will be available for the public to sign in the Town Council office between 10am and 4pm Monday to Thursday until 4pm on 20 September.
Floral tributes can be laid on The Causeway, Marlow.
Buckingham
The Proclamation will be read outside of Buckingham Old Gaol on Sunday 11 September at 3.30pm.
Chesham
The Proclamation will be read at the Clocktower in the Market Square at 3.30pm.
