A Buckinghamshire resident slammed the lack of roadworks after worsening potholes and repeated flooding by his doorstep.
The calm Cresswell Road only a stone’s throw away from Chesham Moor has become a bumpy menace resembling “Himalayas”, a resident Carl Miller said.
He took to social media on OurChesham Facebook group to vent his frustration after his home street has become a costly “nightmare” to drive on following lack of action from Buckinghamshire Council.

He said: “They’ve come out once since 2015, and they have filled the potholes but they come to do it so shoddily, and within a year they were all out. All of them, and it’s just gotten worse. Everyone’s fed up with it.
“And then there’s damage to the car.”
When he turned off Cresswell Road, his previous car’s steering rack sustained damages worth £400 from a pothole near the entrance to the street on Bois Moor Road, which Bucks Council declined to pay for, he claimed.
“Cresswell Road has cost me two tyres because of nails,” he added.
“I got a nail in the front left tyre, and went and got a brand new one. Within three days, same thing happened on the same wheel.
“The garage asked me ‘have you got any potholes down your road’, and I said yes, and he told me what tends to happen is a screw will lay in a pothole and when you drive across it flicks up and goes straight to the tyre, and I said ‘that sounds like my road’!”
Once when roadwork signs appeared residents became hopeful. However, the signs quickly disappeared.
“It looks like the Himalayas down there, they haven’t done a good job. They’re like bumps and little hills.”
He was annoyed to see other nearby roads resurfaced before Cresswell Road, although “none of them are anywhere near as bad as this."

He pleaded the Council to “just get the road serviced, it’s been going on for too long.”
Steve Broadbent, Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “We are aware of the deteriorating surface along Cresswell Road, Chesham. Technicians are assessing the area on a regular basis and we are keeping the carriageway safe with temporary repairs. All potholes reported to us are assessed against robust safety criteria to identify risk to the public, and to determine which potholes need fixing most urgently.”
Mr Miller was also concerned about the repeated flooding of the road despite efforts to clean the drains, which failed to solve the problem.
“It literally turns into a river down here every year.”
