Footage has emerged of the late Bill Turnbull cheering on Wycombe Wanderers’ 2020 League One play-off final triumph at an empty Wembley Stadium.
The showpiece, which was played behind closed doors due to the Covid-19 pandemic, saw the Adams Park side take on M40 rivals Oxford United for a place in the 2020/21 Championship season.

Wanderers won the final 2-1 with Joe Jacobson scoring the decisive goal via the penalty spot with 11 minutes left.
However, for the final half-an-hour, Bill, who passed away on August 31 aged 66 following a five-year battle with prostate cancer, decided to take action into his own hands to get behind the team.
We smuggled Bill into Wembley in 2020 as a 'media assistant'. The members of the press will always remember him on his feet cheering "Chairboys" non-stop for the final 30 minutes, urging his beloved Wycombe on to victory.#Chairboys pic.twitter.com/ztEU8dvYTI

He continually sang ‘Chairboys! Chairboys! Chairboys!’ to get urge Gareth Ainsworth’s men, acting as a cheerleader in the press area at the home of English football.

This galvanised Wycombe as Oxford began to take control of the contest, and to this day, Ainsworth has credited his substitutes, and Bill, for playing their part in helping the Light and Dark Blue Army get promoted that day.
Rest in peace, Bill.
Forever a Chairboy.
