THE shell of an aborted Tesco store will finally be removed this week.
Work will start today on rebuilding the Gerrards Cross store held up after a tunnel collapse in 2005.
The project was halted when land built over a railway line for the store fell down.
Tesco corporate affairs manager Michael Kissman said: "Like many in the community, we want to see the current store frame removed and for the project to progress safely and efficiently."
He added that the company and developers Costain had devised a good neighbour plan to work with the community.
Last week Tesco was refused permission to bring building materials into the site by rail.
Buckinghamshire County Council's development control committee turned down the application.
It will be constructed with materials brought in using lorries.
