SAFETY measures need to 'be better' for pedestrians after e-scooters were left abandoned on the pathway last week.

Residents in Aylesbury have complained to Buckinghamshire Council over e-scooters causing issues for pedestrians using the pathway in Sterling Avenue.

The steet has a designated parking area for e-scooters, which are owned by Zipp Mobility.

Last week, a huge pile of yellow scooters were seen dumped on the pathway, leaving residents to question if it leaves enough space to walk on the pavement.

The issue has cropped up previously according to Richard Conlon, who lives in Aylesbury.

He said: "I wonder, at what point did this become acceptable? Residents and visitors of Aylesbury deserve better! Personally, I have raised the issue via social media regards #zippscooters in Aylesbury. Also, I have seen around Aylesbury over time similar issues to what this photo displays."

Zipp Mobility said the e-scooters have been stood up properly and the excess ones have been placed elsewhere.

A spokesman said: "This area is one of our designated parking bays which have been approved by Buckinghamshire Council. They meet necessary safety criteria such as allowing sufficient space for pedestrians to pass on either side. We are currently in the process of repainting the parking bays in Aylesbury to make them clearer.

"We are always actively searching for new parking bays in Aylesbury to disperse the fleet. If people have other locations they think would be suitable, we accept suggestions at our email address info@zippmobility.com. This email address can similarly be used to report instances of Zipp Mobility e-scooters that are causing obstructions."
