A LEADING councillor said waste bosses have really listened' to incinerator concerns as the latest public consultation on the plans is launched.
The concerns are reflected in today's announcement which earmarks a site for south Bucks, said Buckinghamshire County Council Martin Tett.
The council today published its latest plans for waste disposal in The Core Strategy Development Plan Document'.
Cllr Tett, cabinet member for strategic planning, said: We have really listened to comments made by residents last summer and our response is reflected in the new Core Strategy.
A lot of work has been undertaken to address concerns raised by local people about health, the environment and traffic.
I would like to encourage as many people as possible to read the strategy, take part in this important consultation and come along to the public meetings.' The meetings will be held the Curzon Centre, Maxwell Road, Beaconsfield from 4.15pm to 6.30pm and 7.15pm to 9.30pm on March 19.
The council plans to have one facility in the north of the county and one in the south.
It has put forward two options. One is to have an incinerator at Calvert in Aylesbury and Wapseys Wood, off the A40, between Beaconsfield and Gerrards Cross.
Both facilities - which the council calls Strategic Waste Complexes' - would take household, industrial and commercial waste.
The second option is to have one incinerator for household waste at either of the two sites.
Alongside this will be there will one or more transfer stations' to receive household waste and, where needed, take it to the incinerator.
These sites are: High Heavens landfill site, Wycombe; London Road, Amersham; College Road North, Aston Clinton; off Osier Way, Buckingham and Richings Park, Iver.
Whichever of these sites is not used for household waste will be used for commercial and industrial waste.
Residents must book ahead to attend the March 19 meeting on 01296 383207.
