AS THE development at Century Hill on the Henley Road out of Marlow nears completion, I cannot be alone in being staggered by the lack of consideration given to road safety issues.
Along with many other users of the A4155, I had assumed that planners would take advantage of the new development to insist on a realignment of the boundary wall to make the road safer.
For years, lorries, buses and coaches coming from Marlow have been forced to cross the central line in the road on a blind corner - with all the dangers that involves.
We approached the council about this and we were told that the planners were powerless.
Can this really be true?
Can it really be that the planning and highways authorities cannot take road safety into account when granting planning permission?
Meanwhile, a real opportunity to improve safety has been lost.
One can only hope that a supermarket juggernaut soon finds itself lodged in the offending wall so we can have another opportunity to rectify this absurdity.
