A WATER company has been slammed for failing to fix a leak first reported to them in April.

It has been four months and Thames Water has still not stopped water gushing out onto Nash Lee Road, a resident claims.

The Wendover resident got in touch with the Bucks Free Press after complaining to the company five times about the leak.

Thames Water said they received the original report on Friday, April 1 and are putting a plan in place to get it sorted.

However, the resident said the water leak has damaged the road and is upset with the "various promises of repair" over the last couple of months.

Bucks Free Press:

They said: "This year, we have been told on numerous occasions that it would be fixed within a few days and have texts to that effect. On one occasion, they came and put road closed signs ready and the next day took them away again with no work taking place. On another occasion they left barriers laid on the verge, suggesting they were going to start work  but in a few days they were gone too.

"We had a drop in water pressure from one part of the leak, which has now been repaired so the water pressure is back up but it must be hundreds of gallons flowing away every day if not more."

Concerns have also been raised by the amount of water being wasted as Thames Water's hosepipe ban comes into effect tomorrow (August 24).

The temporary ban comes in after reports of the River Thames reaching its lowest level since 2005 following the "unprecedented weather conditions".

The resident said: "With the hosepipe ban recently introduced by Thames Water, I wonder whether there is any news value in the water leak outside our house which I first reported to Thames Water on the 5 April and despite various promises of repair us still discharging hundreds of gallons of water a day.

"Even in the really hot weather, we had a constant stream of water along the road."

Thames Water said their team attended Nash Lee Road in July and have confirmed that they will be installing a new service pipe leak.

A Thames Water spokesperson said: “We can confirm that on Friday 1 April 2022, we received reports of leaking pipe outside a property on Nash Lee Road in Wendover. Our engineers attended on the same day, assessing the job and referring it to our dedicated repair maintenance team.

"They are now in the process of contacting residents to advise of a temporary road closure, which will need to happen in order for them to undertake the work. As residents park on this road, the vehicles will need to move in order for the work to take place."

They also thanked customers for their patience and have apologised for 'any inconvenience caused'.
