THE HEAD boy of Cressex Community School has said he is dismayed following a suspected arson attack that destroyed part of his school.
Callum Willerton hit out at what he called "prejudgmental accusations flung at the school and its students".
The English block of the school in Holmers Lane, Cressex, burnt down on Saturday night following a suspected arson attack. A second fire damaged a classroom in the Modern Languages block.
The head boy said the fire was a blow to pupils who had worked hard to improve standards at the school.
He said: "Cressex is doing extremely well in GCSE examinations and last year attained its highest level of marks yet, competing well with other secondary schools in the area and even managing to get to grammar school levels as well."
Cressex Community School is closed today following the fire. Police and firefighters are investigating the cause of the fire.
