A HEAD teacher has described a suspected arson which destroyed part of his school last night as an act of stupidity'.
The English block of Cressex Community School was destroyed by fire at around 2am last night.
A second fire caused damage to a classroom in the Modern Languages department.
Both stand separate from the main school block.
Speaking outside the school in Holmers Lane, Cressex, this morning, acting head teacher Phil Mitchell, said: "There was obviously some stupidity at the school last night. The fire brigade had to be called.
"Two fires were started. One was very small and didn't do much damage.
"Lots of members of staff are here this morning doing what they should be doing, for which I am very grateful to them. The police and fire brigade are being very helpful."
He added that he was taking advice from authorities on whether the school could reopen tomorrow when the half term holiday ends.
Its electricity and gas supply has been switched for safety reasons.
High Wycombe firefighters returned to the school this morning to inspect the damaged buildings. Buckinghamshire County Council officers also attended.
Mr Mitchell said: "We're working on getting the services working in other parts of the school."
More to come.
