A SHAKEN up mum is warning pet owners to be careful after her tiny Chiuahaha was 'almost killed' by two dogs on a walk.
Laura Behjet was walking her dog Charles on Sunday, July 31, in Shenley Brook End when two 'unmuzzled, off leash' border terriers 'viciously attacked' her pup.
He was left needing extensive surgery after the two dogs bit into his lungs.
Luckily, Charles survived the surgery but the family have been left with a bill totalling more than £4,000.

The vets originally told Laura the bill could exceed £15,000 and there was a chance he could have died in surgery.
Laura said: "Amazingly he has been recovering well and the vet feels that when fully recovered (almost a year) he can probably live much like any other dog though we have already been made aware that due to the surgery on his chest he will always need careful handling as he will have weak spots and there will almost certainly be psychological damage from what he has been through so he will need extensive behavioural rehabilitation.

"The attack was relentless and brutal and there is no doubt their intention was to kill him. There was no apology for what her dogs had done. No offer to reimburse the bil, no thought to ask how our dog was, no thought to ask how our children (who witnessed the attack) were. No emotion when showed the photograph of what her dogs did to him."
Laura launched a fundraising campaign to raise awareness of the attack and raise money for Charle's rehabilitaiton costs.
Laura has reported the incident to police after more attacks reportedly took place by the same dogs.
A campaign will also be launched to change the laws surrounding dog attacks.
Laura said: "We will be campaigning for an amendment to section three of Dangerous Dogs Act to make dog on dog attacks a criminal offence and owners criminally liable if their dog attacks another dog."
