RSPCA officers have visited an Amersham farm following a tip-off about possible horse cruelty from a member of the public.
Sophie Wilkinson, spokesman for the RSPCA, said: "We did go to a farm near Amersham last Friday following a complaint involving 18 horses. Our investigation is ongoing."
She added that no horses had been removed from the property.
Last month the RSPCA rescued 111 horses from Spindles Farm in Hyde Heath. Officers also discovered 32 dead horses.
The farm's owner, Jamie Gray, is due to appear in court on May 9 charged with assaulting a police officer and criminal damage.
The offences are alleged to have been committed when the RSPCA and police searched his farm on January 4.
