MARLOW'S High Street was today once again lined with soon-to-be blossoming pear trees.
The final trees were planted today to replace those taken out which council chiefs were too old and could prove a hazard to pedestrians.
Marlow Town Council and Buckinghamshire County Council, which are responsible for the trees, contracted Wycombe District Council to carry out the work.
This was because they were no" longer considered to be suitable due to their age"; had declined in condition and could damage the pavement by their roots spreading below ground.
The nine trees are expected to blossom as early as March and then turn orange and red in time for autumn.
Present at the planting ceremony were district council chairman Cllr John Savage and Mayor of Marlow Cllr Richard Scott.
Joining them were county council cabinet member for transportation Cllr Valerie Letheren and district council cabinet member for planning and sustainability Cllr Hugh McCarthy.
