A DESPERATE plea has been made to repair the pavement outside shops and businesses in the town centre.
Dozens of people have signed a petition calling for the paving slabs in Cambridge Street, Aylesbury, to be fixed up as they make the town look like a 'total mess'.
The person who started the petition, which has been sent to Buckinghamshire Council, argues how the paving slabs look 'as bad as they were in 1963'.

They anonymously wrote: "I remember, and they are so much worse now. Where they've been broken into small pieces they've been filled up with tarmac.
"This has the effect of making the street look a total mess, which it doesn't deserve as many of the businesses have made a lot of effort on their shop fronts in the last year or so.

"The purpose of this letter is to let you know that we, and other neighbours, want to see this part of Cambridge Street pedestrianized in the same manner as has been done in the main High Street.
"This petition has received the signatures of those people who live and trade in the locality of Cambridge Street, Aylesbury."
