A fire broke out in a Buckinghamshire apartment yesterday.
The Bucks Fire and Rescue Service fire crew were alerted to a fire in a flat on Aylesbury’s Lavric Road at 1.16pm on August 8.
One appliance and crew from the Aylesbury fire station attended the scene.
Bucks Fire and Rescue Service said: “A cigarette had been discarded into a bin, within a flat located in a two-storey building, causing smoke logging.
“The bin had been removed before they arrived.”
To clear smoke from the flat, the firefighters used positive pressure ventilation - a system where the smoke filled air is replaced with clean air.

The fire service added: “We advise anyone who smokes to use a purpose made, heavy ashtray that cannot tip over easily and is made of a material that will not burn.”
