Recent protests against the proposed plans for a new film studio next to Westhorpe junction centered around potential traffic problems the development could bring.
However, the Marlow Film Studio say their sustainable transport plan would minimise congestion by new public bus services connecting Marlow and Little Marlow to High Wycombe and the Maidenhead Crossrail.
There have been hundreds of objections including one from Cookham Parish Council which also highlighted the possible transport issues.
Part of the objection read: “Our first concern relates to traffic entering and leaving the site itself.
"We are not satisfied that the road network serving the site is or can easily be made adequate, particularly in respect of traffic heading east, towards and through Little Marlow and Bourne End."
It continued: “The existing levels of traffic result in significant queues, especially at rush hour (which is also, in the morning, drop-off time for Holy trinity primary school in the Conservation Area).
“Traffic jams and the traffic cause significant noise and fume pollution issues in the Conservation Area as well as endangering pedestrians, including children, in the narrow streets.”
A Marlow Film Studios spokesperson said: “After a year of open and positive public consultation, Marlow Film Studios has seen strong support for its proposal to build an international film studio on the former land infill site adjacent to the A404 at Westhorpe Junction.
“The planning application outlines the full benefits to the local community including more than 4,000 jobs, a culture and skills academy and a sustainable transport plan to minimise congestion and increase alternative transport methods including; improved footpaths, a new cycle route and new public bus services connecting Marlow and Little Marlow to High Wycombe and the Maidenhead Crossrail.”
Marlow Film Studio representatives were invited to present their plans to Little Marlow Parish Council last week.
Mark Schmull, from Arrow Planning, said: “The project has seen strong support over the last year as it has gone through its various engagement phases, but we do acknowledge there are concerns on various levels and want to ensure that people have all the information they need.
“We hope the session helped the Parish Council and residents better understand our plans for the studios which will bring over 4000 jobs and economic benefit to the area.”
