A man was rushed to hospital this morning following a fight where one assailant was armed with a hammer.

Police were called to Frogmoor in High Wycombe at around 4.15am today (Saturday) following reports of an assault.

Officers who arrived on the scene saw three men who were involved in a fight. One of the men was carrying a hammer.

Part of the road has been closed off this morning, with forensic investigators spotted at the scene.

Thames Valley Police have confirmed that one man, in his thirties, suffered a head injury during the altercation.

He was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital and has since been discharged.

A 24-year-old man from High Wycombe has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He remains in police custody.

Thames Valley Police has appealed for any witnesses to the incident to come forward and aid with inquiries.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said: "We received a report of an assault in Frogmoor, High Wycombe, at around 4.15am this morning.

“Three men were involved in a fight, with one person in possession of a hammer.

“One of the men, aged in his thirties, suffered a head injury and was taken to John Radcliffe for further treatment, he has since been discharged.

“Officers are investigating and have arrested a 24-year-old man from High Wycombe on suspicion of GBH. He remains in police custody.
