PLANS to scrap half-hour parking in South Bucks have been shelved.
Councillors agreed tonight not to make an hour the minimum stay for £1.10.
Instead the 50p for half-hour charge will be kept at nine of South Bucks Council's 10 car parks.
It follows an outcry from businesses and residents with concerns it would deter quick "pop to the shops".
Other charges for the car parks in Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross, Burnham and Farnham Common will go up as planned by 10p or 20p.
Sunday will no longer be free but will cost a flat rate of £1.
And all season tickets will go up by £10 apart from Summers Road, Burnham, where there will be no increase.
The council had proposed abolishing free half-hour parking at this site in favour of a minimum 50p one hour stay.
But this has also been abolished. The Broadway, Farnham Common will also remain free following a consultation on all charge increases.
The council's Conservative-only cabinet backed the plans at a meeting at its Oxford Road, Denham tonight.
Council leader Councillor Adrian Busby said the new prices "meet the concerns I think of quite a number of consultees especially amongst the traders".
It also helped people who needed to "pop to the shops" by keeping the half-hour fare, he said.
"We have listened to what they said," Cllr Busby said.
Car parks affected are (all offer half-hour parking unless noted): Beaconsfield: Warwick Road Altons, Burkes Road Penncroft, Burkes Road Gerrards Cross: Bulstrode Way Packhorse Road Station Road Burnham: Jennery Lane Summers Road Neville Court (minimum stay two hours) Farnham Common: Broadway
