A TALENTED High Wycombe singer set for international stardom has told the Bucks Free Press how she did not expect to get past the first round of a BBC talent contest.

Last night Katy Setterfield, from Geralds Road, Terriers, won The One and Only tribute act show with her Dusty Springfield performances, beating eleven other impersonators.

Speaking this morning, Katy, 37, who was born in Chalfont St Peter, had not had a chance to go to bed after her victory last night.

She said: "I am absolutely exhausted. I just can't believe this has happened to me. I didn't expect to get this far and certainly didn't expect to win."

Katy, who has been singing professionally for 17 years, won a contract to perform for three months in a show in Las Vegas.

She described the prize as "really exciting". She said: "I don't know much about it at the moment but I think I'm going to be working every night of the week. It'll be a challenge taking her music to America. It's just absolutely magical.

"I first heard Dusty Springfield when I was about four years old and fell in love with her voice and fell in love with her. She's a musician's musician.

"I always tried to impersonate her voice. I really wanted to pay tribute to her and really wanted to bring her music back as I think people had started to forget about her."

One of Dusty's albums had shot straight to number one in Amazon's sales chart, she said. "I feel really proud about that. It's all down to the show," she added.

Up until the contest, Katy had been the lead singer in touring show That'll Be The Day, performing as Peggy Lee, Blondie, Cher and as Dusty Springfield. In May she will set off to perform in Las Vegas as her idol.

She added: "I just want to thank everyone so much for their support. It's been overwhelming. I'll be out and about in the area to thank them personally in the next week."
