WYCOMBE Swan Youth Theatre's latest production, Les Miserables School Edition, has proven a sell-out success a week before the opening night.
Producer Joy Griffith says she is "delighted" the show, which boasts a 70-strong cast aged between ten and 19, has a guaranteed full house throughout its four-night run.
She adds: "The youth theatre is a great way to get young people involved and engaged in theatre.
"With this production, just listening to the whole cast singing is phenomenal and our principals are stunning. They are a very talented bunch of people and I am privileged to work with them."
The School Edition version of the popular West End musical is shorter in length, but the storyline remains the same.
Based on the novel by Victor Hugo, the Tony award-winning score includes the songs I Dreamed a Dream, Do You Hear the People Sing?, One Day More, Empty Chairs at Empty Tables, Master of the House, and On My Own.
Joy says the School Edition is "still a grown-up musical. Nothing has been sanitised."
She adds: "There's no point doing the show unless its as its supposed to be done. It's a hefty piece of work, but the cast are loving it. They have risen to the challenge."
Les Miserables School Edition runs from Thursday, February 21 to Sunday, February 24 at Wycombe Town Hall. For more information about Wycombe Swan Youth Theatre, e-mail Joy Griffith at joy@wycombeswan.co.uk
