PEOPLE who have suffered domestic abuse will be able to get advice from a team of specialists touring the county by van today.
The van will be stopping at a number of locations where staff from the police's community safety partnership will be giving advice and handing out leaflets.
The first stop of its tour will be at the Wycombe District Council offices in Queen Victoria Road, High Wycombe. It will tour the town centre, Princes Risborough, Ellesborough, Stokenchurch, Lane End, Wooburn, Loudwater and Hazelmere.
During the afternoon, it will stop at the South Bucks District Council offices in Oxford Road, Denham at 1pm, followed by a tour of Gerrards Cross, Stoke Poges, Burnham, Taplow and Beaconsfield.
Sue Moss, domestic abuse co-ordinator at Buckinghamshire County Council, said: "We know that one in four women and one in six men in Buckinghamshire will be victims of domestic abuse at some point in their lives and it is shocking that Valentines Day often triggers abuse.
"Domestic abuse is about control and, when a person in an abusive relationship gets flowers or chocolates, they may think it's worth staying after all. The abuser, however, will continue their pattern of behaviour regardless."
